"Embracing This" Jeremy Blue Review By Len Jeremy Blue sings with the emotive conviction of an established theatrical performance. Yes, performance. As the experience of listening to Jeremy sing is pure performance in itself. Each note taken to the complete limit spiced with strong delivery and emotion charged sound. Jeremy is not one easily pidgeon-holed, he refers to his style of music as "soulfolk". Which is; "In Jeremy's own words, "It's simple acoustic music, built around a voice and six strings -- it's just me living my life out loud." And thankfully Jeremy has shared that life with us. |
Bright, clear, tender, dark, all are sides of the talent of Jeremy Blue as verified on "Embracing This". Eleven tracks complete the showcase of "Blue" music. Mostly original works with collaboration from an impressive list of musicians. Jeremy takes "If I Only Had A Brain" to places not even the wizard could imagine. Warm and compelling, deep and intriguing, not at all like the imagery we envision from the song's movie fame. The CD is charged with Jeremy Blue, and that should be a literal description.
"Soulfolk" an apt but maybe slightly understated term does come the closest to an overall category for this exciting and talented young man. Jeremy Blue has an unforgettable voice, energetic and emotive talent, and a delivery which wraps everything up nicely with a bang. Looking forward to Jeremy's next musical embrace!
