Essential Oils - T
Tangerine oil: as is Mandarin, it is used as a digestive stimulant and for all sorts of digestive problems. It is antispasmodic and helps to control flatulence and belching. Used externally, Tangerine is used in various carrier oils as a massage oil to break down cellulite and pockets of fat, as it helps to stimulate draining of the lymphatic system. Inhaled, it is used to soothe the psyche. It is calming, sedating, eases nervous tension and with Marjoram it soothes emotions such as grief, anger and shock.
Tea Tree - This oil is a native of Australia, where the aborigines have used it medicinally for centuries. Recently, the Australian Government invested in wholesale production of this useful tree, and the many resulting plantations are now responsible for the whole world's supply of the oil.
Tee tree has powerful bactericidal properties and is many times more powerful in this respect that phenol, which of course cannot be put on the skin. Tea tree, amazingly, is very kind to the skin, which makes it useful for the treatment of spots and acne, and as a gargle against winter infections. Tea tree is good to help fight off thrush. It is also good for skin conditions, respiratory problems such as bronchitis, coughs, head colds, and sore throat. You can also use it for insect bites.
Essential oils are not only for human use. After buying just about every product for a dog's skin conditions I was just about to give up when I read about using essential oils for dogs. I mixed the oils of lavender and tea tree in my dog's shampoo to help fight summer eczema. Low and behold, it worked. Now my dog has all of her hair back and she doesn't chew herself raw anymore.
