Essential Oils - R
Rosemary oil is steam-distilled from the tops, leaves, and smaller twigs of the Rosmarinus officinalis. Caution is to be taken when using Rosemary oil! It can, if used too much or if the condition is present for seizures, can induce epilepsy and can also create fear.
Externally, making a tea of the herb and adding a drop or two of the essential oil can be used to clean wounds and sores, added to a carrier oil it is good for joint or muscular aches. Directly applied kills lice and scabies (but it burns if applied directly to the pubic region).
Inhaled, Rosemary oil is used to encourage intuition. It is used to cure forgetfulness and encourages remembrance. The Romans would use a ring made from Rosemary plants and wore them on their heads to help them think.
Rosemary is said to activate hair growth. A formula for hair is to mix equal parts of Rosemary oil and JoJoba oil; for every ounce of this mixture add 5 drops of Basil oil. Put a few drops of this oil mixture on your hairbrush every night before going to bed and brush your hair from the scalp to the ends. Remember to apply the mixture primarily to the scalp. The JoJoba unplugs the hair-growing cells and the Rosemary oil stimulates their function to advance hair growth.
