I am truly honored to receive this award, and doubly so to
be among the first to be so honored by the Stonewall Society. I want to
thank everyone who voted for my art work. I believe that art, in any form,
is a window to the soul. Your recognition of my art says that something in
my soul touched yours as well, and that is worth more than any award. I
also want to thank my mentor in the visual arts, Robert Barnes. And last
but certainly not least, I would like to thank Len at the Stonewall
Society for his tireless work to promote GLBT artists of every medium and
