"POW!"
Nick Name

Review by: Len

With the release of "POW" the hard bodied Nick Name and band have taken the baton several steps higher. This CD brings I believe more of the humor to the forefront. That is not to say serious issues are not there. The approach is more light hearted, more pointed, more personal and shows the diverse abilities of this group. Still true to the "punk" genre, the approach is fresh and unique. The addition of Sunshine, a strong female vocalist who reminds me of a mix of Cyndi Lauper and yes the material girl herself- Madonna brings an added edge and

quality to already strong material.

Five tracks of hard hitting music, becoming standard style for Nick Name, deals with more individual personal issues. Like staying too long and creating muck in an otherwise potentially blooming relationship. Nick Name takes the blunt approach as expected addressing the issue and offering the solution in "Get The F**k Out". The independent spirit of track three, "Ass Kissing" featuring the radiant talent of Sunshine, shows no permissions needed nor asked. Track five, "Naked Guy" is an amusing if not hilarious take on the age old adage of something is hidden in the cover of the Camel cigarette pack. It seems to me here the band is poking fun at mesmerizing and commercial attempts to make drones of the buyers. I could not help but to laugh aloud as the message of "Naked Guy" unfolded. Nick Name not only has talent but a strong sense of humor.

A great second to the band's self titled first CD. You know this band is here, and plans on making the mark. They successfully have shown the their talent and messages are no accidents. But rather carefully crafted talent. The simple idea of track Two, "Harder, Stronger, Deeper, Longer" is the obvious. However, delivered with style and again I feel a great sense of humor. Nick Name shows that being able to find the humor in self is as important as seeing humor in life around us all. A definite collector's item and a good musical thrill. Check out more about this fast moving and talented band on their website.
