Jon Gilbert Leavitt

Review By: Codi

Having the opportunity to review this award winning artist is always a pleasure. We have featured Jon's "Pride" and now it is time to take a look at some of the music he has available on line. A prolific songwriter who has a range which literally spans the globe. Looking at the Catalog of Songs is impressive. When you take the time to really read what is there, you are amazed! His style ranges so widely that to list all the artists he is compared to would take this entire column. Elton John, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Sugar Ray, and George Michael are a mere sprinkling. As a songwriter, this ability to be diverse is

a great gift and very special talent. Jon Gilbert Leavitt is so graced, and in abundance.

There are thirteen songs available for your enjoyment at Jon's site. Of course while you listen there is also loads of great information to peruse. Leavitt's broad talent is aptly demonstrated by his on line selections. The styles, topics, and themes are varied and wonderful works of art. Jon's lyrics are poignant, honest, strong and universal in their emotional appeal. He writes with tender love as in "Ordinary Life" and a darker view of lifestyles in "Basin".

"Forever" is a hauntingly beautiful song of love unfulfilled. The melody lingers as does the sentiment. More upbeat pop sounding "I Took My Baby To Little Tokyo" is a contrast to "Forever" but again merely a demonstration of this songwriter's ability to expand into varied areas. A German piece, "Der Mann der Welt" is a beautiful piece and easily enjoyed with or without translation.

All in all the visit to Jon Gilbert Leavitt's site is a musical treat for the music lover and listener. I am sure his site provides great opportunities for the lucky vocalist who takes the adventure. Leavitt has a new song "Believe" which is performed by Zane Kuchera. A Beautiful "ballad for the new millennium" done wonderfully by Kuchera, about meeting someone in today's modern world, such as on the internet. However, sometimes the modern technology isn't needed, just look around you. I could go on and on, but you will better experience the wonder that is Jon Gilbert Leavitt by visiting Jon's website!
