Review Robert Anton "Insane" Review by: Len Rogers According to his grandmother, as stated on his CD Baby website, "Robert has been singing since he was a thought." No doubt, Robert Anton's quality and charm vocally would prove that point. "Insane" is a moving work, literally. Meaning you will be moving. Instinctively, and with purpose. There is a feel, no a joy, in his work which provides Robert Anton with some extra-special depth. Many influences seem present but yet a totally unique finished product is catchy, infectious, and driven to make you move. All good things, and all Robert Anton |
A little Marvin Gaye, a little Lou Rawls, seasoned with a Barry White like sexy feel, all wrapped up with lots or originality and you have one Robert Anton. I use the word infectious because Anton's music is very much in line with the local power and flavor of such as demonstrated in the French Quarter. I can just see Bourbon Street alive with movement to the sound of Robert Anton. This is an associative memory, not actually seen. However in live concert I am sure that effect is much more present.
Robert has generously packed "Insane" with twelve full tracks and a special "interlude". From start with "Dancin All Night" I knew I was going to be "Antonized" with energy. That experience was made even better by continued pleasant surprises in the title cut, "Insane" and more empowered by the catchy and unforgettable "Hey (The Diamond Dance)". "Dirty Blues" is more "Antonizing" at it's best. Soulful, lingering, and oh so smoothly familiar. Or is that just Anton comfort zone?
Robert Anton musically takes you from tapping and moving to laid back comfort as with his "Lieblings Herr". Which is wrapped in velvet like musical sensations provided by Anton in "Como Se Dice" and a fitting finale in "Dancing All Night (rehot remix)". In all cases, "insane" is a must have for any collection which hopes to showcase current music with move, emotion, and distinctive dance-a-bility! Check all things Robert Anton at his website!
