Julia
Kelly Wing CD Review |
"These Two Hands" Julia Kelly Review By: Georgie Jessup If
you only get to hear "If These Walls Could Talk" you would do
yourself a favor by picking up this CD. I happen to love sweet country waltzes
but everything about this beautiful country song rings true for me! Julia
tells a story that reflects a hard reality: this country and our psyche
chooses to not remember the dark side of it's history. But Julia makes the
hard pill go down easy with this story of slaves and masters who are after
all, "only human" too. |
and fuzzy thinking about the wonderful relationship that is exposed between
the singer and her Grandmother. Julia's sincere vocal delivery is only highlighted
by the joyful mandolin work provided by co-producer Seth Connelly. "These
Two Hands" is kind of a book end to "Grandma's Arms". Once again
Seth's mandolin helps set the mood and his harmony vocal is a great compliment
for Julia's strong, yet delicate, lead vocals.
Why Can't Peace Be Patriotic too" and "Oh By The Way" could be
too political for some listeners but Julia makes them intimate stories and
personal for the listener. Those who may feel that way don't have to leave their
comfort zone with Julia and Seth's approach. And yes why can't peace be
patriotic too? If we ever get that answer, bottle it.
But this CD, ("These Two Hands"), is not political or preachy. It is
about love and family and respect for all human beings; even the ones we don't
particularly like all that much. Remembering those things and honoring those who
taught us to live and approach life with love and peace may one day fulfill
Julia's dedication, on the liner notes for, "a world of peace, tolerance
and respect." It's not just a dream and Julia helps make it a reality! Buy
this CD. DJ's play this CD!
