CD Title: Extractions Artist: John Fredrick Copyright:

This compilation of music taken from several CD's is a broad view into the music which is John Fredrick. The style is bold, daring and not for the faint hearted. Being a die hard Frank Zappa fan I found great enjoyment in John Fredrick's sarcasm, humor, and style. No one is safe here, J.F. is an equal opportunity satirist. Be prepared; to get those discoleptic bones rattlin', your views broadened, and your tastes challenged. A lot you say from one CD??? Well this one delivers.
From the up tempo "Drag Queen" (three versions), through the cutting wit and stark "Real Men", to the "country" humor/questioning of "Charlie Off The Wall" your senses are awakened by strong visualizations, deep rhythms, familiar images, and poignant lyrics. Some would, and rightly so, see the protest/activist value in some of John Fredrick's music. Some will see the writhing disco beat, some will hear angry words, and some like me will experience all that and just enjoy.
I like music which is sassy and thought provoking, J.F. happily delivers in large doses. You frequently get the sense that J.F. has a deeply intense smirk as he shares his musical world with you. Not one to just offer a beat and catchy words, J.F. makes you think, move, and most of all react. I played this CD for several people, individually and in groups. All had strong reactions, mostly curious, several confused. I wasn't surprised, <g>. All wanted to hear it again. A great CD to add some spice to a potentially "calm" affair, or to stir those heated feelings of community awareness. I assure you "Extractions" is a CD you will remember, use, and be glad you have included in your musical library.
