Society GLBT Artists Joalby Wing Music Website Review |
Twenty-one year old Joalby offers a strong glimpse into the beginnings of his works. He is currently working on his debut album, "Unicorn Moon". Joalby's current online music offering is of four downloadable songs and "Happy Together" available for streaming. Of the four downloadable, two are versions of "One Of The Damned". This is apparently Joalby's personal choice. Both are strong in impact and musical strength. Showing his stated goth/pop influence, Joalby offers a hard and harder version of the same material. Hard not being a bad thing at all, impact and strength are necessary parts of the composition. All is delivered in both renderings, however Devon and Shiloh do add some extra spice and bite in their version.
Joalby's Fleetwood Mac influences as well as some I think early rock are brought to center stage in "& Then They Throw Me Away". Melodious and catchy the song quickly brings a tinge of familiar space. The pop flavor adds drama and unique flavor to an already lyrically and musically strong piece. Following in the same style but with what seems to be a twist of the Beatles is "Miscellaneous Pi". Equally strong with a message which creeps in and then grabs. A haunting refrain which lingers and leaves a bittersweet afterglow. A good showing from a young and talented artist. Be sure to check out Joalby's website and keep watch on where this young man is going.
