Robin Renée
Review by: Len

Track for track Robin Renée literally pours her soul into her art. Not one to easily confine to a category, Robin offers up a steamy mix of rock, and pop with a diverse inclusion of musical impressions. A journey through feelings, reactions and some social statements, "In Progress" is precisely named. Progression being a key concept to the total experience she

provides. The talent here is strong. Vibrant lyrics which convey emotion and statement. Those being personal introspectives, to the state of the social condition and the effect of that condition. Through seemingly personal exposure to strong sentiment delivered with vocal talent which is haunting and lingers like the scent of gardenias.

Renée starts the journey with strength and conviction with "Empire". You know right away this person has something to say, and that you definitely want to hear.  As a singer/songwriter/poet she does have some things to say. The messages are universal in comprehension, and personal in scope. Combined with excellent guitar riffs, and savvy which brings a little punk to the scene. Robin keeps the interest and energy high. Even in the folk/balladesque selections there is no way to ignore this music. It grabs you and holds on.

Thirteen tracks of pure Robin Renée, and solid musical enjoyment. An artist who comes across as strong, independent, and with a voice not easily missed. A unique quality, a slight edge to her voice adds tenderness and bite where needed. Obvious David Bowie influence breathes in and out through the CD. In "Lyin' All The Time" my personal favorite, the Bowie influence is made quite clear. Truly a CD chock full of surprises turns and high intensity interest. I find the more I listen, the more I learn, and like. It only gets better and better. Check out the Robin Renée Website for latest information, purchase, and to learn more about this strong and community spirited artist.
