“Pierce” To be honest, “Pierce” gave me the feeling of dread when I read the back cover…. ““Pierce” is about grief and rebirth, and moving on to love once more…” But, when I got into it I couldn’t put it down. When Leo loses his lover, Matt, in an auto accident, he wallows in his grief for a year. The thing that brings him out of his grief is when Matt’s mother, and Leo’s friend, Millie, tries to commit suicide on the anniversary of his Matt’s death. Leo then tries to find out the answers to questions he has asked himself over and over again. |
On the night of the accident, Leo and Matt had a fight. The fight was
over Leo’s inviting Millie to his birthday party. You see, Matt and Millie
don’t get along well at all. It seems that when Matt was around 6, his father
left them, leaving Millie with 2 young kids, Matt and his 14 year old sister
Theresa. Millie didn’t know what else to do but take them to her mother’s
house and left… Several years later Millie reappears, when her mother dies and
takes Matt to live with her in
As the story unfolds you find that Matt’s father is dead… and the story about his death just keeps changing as you go along.
Enter Armando, the UPS guy that delivers a couple of packages to Leo. Leo finds him very attractive, but of course, Leo open’s mouth, and inserts foot when they first meet. Then he sees him again at a bar. Armando is also a reporter, so, with Armando’s help, Leo research’s information into the death of Matt’s Dad.
You know how a piece of music will sound like it’s ending with a da- dum, then there’s another one and another one until, you get the last Da-Duuuuum! Well that’s what “Pierce” does… “Damn what an ending! I guess the rest is just closing everything up….” Wait! Da-Dum, a twist! Then another! Until finally, Roberto closes out the story.
“Pierce” is a Must Read! Roberto has a way of drawing you in with his style of story telling!
