"The Waiting's Over"  Marsha Stevens  Review by Len Rogers      Marsha Stevens has been called "The Mother of contemporary Christian music" by Christian Century magazine. As the first out major singer self identified as a lesbian  in the contemporary Christian music subculture, Stevens has blazed a path that even the mainstream heterosexual singers  follow.  This is in addition to an amazing voice which is filled with emotion and life. "The Waiting's Over" is an excellent example of the high standards set by Stevens in her recording career. Eleven songs strong this CD is beyond

just a "subculture" work. The talent exhibited demands attention and respect. The quality and vocal strength can only be described as amazing. 

     Thoughtful lyrics combined with Marsha's ability to bring life to the song make for a strong experience. Not your fathers Gospel music, Marsha sings volumes in current times voice. Music lovers in general will appreciate the talent and work produced. Some work just transcends genre and cultural limitations becoming a standard, such is Marsha Stevens. All songs are consistent in professional delivery and packed with the Stevens punch. the track "Jesus Wept" is not only a beautiful song but quite surprising  in subject matter and content. A wonderful example of Marsha Stevens' talent, imagination, and courage as a GLBT music leader.
