The Keyth Lawrence and the Purple Circle website explain the concept of the "record" is like that of a book. Individual tracks complete the story in much the same way chapters complete a book. Basically, "the whole is different from the sum of its parts." Indeed the three songs included in this preview do relate and touch but are intrinsically unique.
"Leaving", released as a single, like the others does well as a stand alone piece. In all songs Keyth Lawrence is very much connected to the piano. As an extension of his delivery, rather than a separate instrument. The flow is complete. With "Listen" emotion and stage are also defined by the piano as well as lyrics. What we leave with others really is sometimes the essential point of it all. Lawrence delivers the message with cool consistent vocals which entice and enhance.
"Figures", the title track is a warm and enwrapping piece which pulls you into the story. Again as a lone work very complete. However, knowing this is but one portion of the complete journey, excitement is brought into the work. One premise of the entire CD s the story of loss and recovery. Figures are lost and found. Ability with word power and play upon double meanings is a gift well utilized in this song. Once again lyrics, instruments, and vocals all intertwine to create a sense of warm realization.
"Mission" a more up tempo attention grabber, also an in-depth work, has fire, life, and a compelling beckon. Lyrics bring familiar imagery and cohesion to the spirited music which caries the work. Much qualified as "dance", the music animates the listener. Multi-sensed sounds combined with skilled arrangement make for compliment and energy.
With this peek into the complete story I know that the journey will be well worth the travel. The complete story, well we need the complete work. The preview, like a good prelude, has more than perked an interest. An interest in the music, the lyrics, and especially the experience.
