"The Christian Right ... or Wrong?"   John Cord  Blue Dolphin Publishing ISBN: 1-57733-142-7 Review by: Len      As an ex-seminarian and gay male I find myself frequently the reviewer when it comes to religion related material. In the case of John Cord's "The Christian Right...OR WRONG?" I can say that I was not only pleased but also intensely impressed. John does no translation to make the Scriptures fit the GLBT community. Does not even try, thankfully. He does show that the issues are based on a more "fund"amental theme. Money of course.

     No matter the sexual preference, race, or even belief it all boils down to "corporate Christianity" as the source of the problem. In this case I would really have said root of the evil, but...I digress. 

     John Cord shows clearly and precisely how and where the greed of humankind takes over and where "God" left off. Reading "The Christian Right...OR WRONG?" was an eye-opening experience and jolt, which is very much appreciated.       For years like many I have read and re-read the Scriptures and related material searching for a deeper understanding which did not exclude me. Of course I found re-written or widely interpreted material which validated. But not much which specifically addressed. John Cord has done that. Not as a GLBT religious leader but as a simple man examining the facts and sticking to them. Strictly to them as was indicted by the text of the Bible as we should. Case after case, religious leader after leader John shows us the greed and purpose behind the hate. Actually a means to diminish the non-productive core for the "corporate Christians". 

     Basically as Christians, we see in the Bible that  Jesus did not particularly like church or temple in his case. Remember the only time really referenced is Jesus tearing the temple apart because they had made it a den of thieves. John Cord shows explicitly how this same den has been brought, bought, and supported by "corporate Christianity".  That same greed is the basis for the hatred, discrimination, and separation which is taught by the "corporate Christians". 

     A truly insightful book that for once addresses the problems and identifies the culprits. I cannot say it takes away the hurt or hate but it does make it possible to deal with these issues. It no longer is divine hatred but money driven greed which causes the socially depressing control features of "corporate Christianity". So get a copy of "The Christian Right...OR WRONG?", get out of the "corporate Christian" buildings, into the light, read and learn. It is so much brighter when you realize human greed not divine cause is backing this hate driven and control mongering "corporate Christianity". This book brought me from recovering Catholic to a happy recovered Catholic which in my personal translation means content Christian.
