Meet Darren. Family/business man with issues in both worlds. Those issues are a troubled business and an ill mother with whom Darren has been detached and abandoned, and for good reason. See, "mother" abandoned her son and daughter years earlier. Anna, the sister is the "glue" which binds in this drama, literally. Neither mother nor son really want a relationship, or do they??? Well maybe not with each other at any rate, but then....
Enter Patrick & Patrick into Darren's life. Seems everything comes in two's for the stressed yet buoyant Darren, played very well by Christopher Clarke. Two relatives, two men. Two life problems. Maybe one or both of the two Patricks can lighten Darren's world. One a radio disk jockey with a call in show, the other, an "Irish wanker" who will be involved in the business issues at Darren's company. Always complications.
But there is more. Anna finds that she and Darren have a brother, surprise! All they know is his name is Patrick. Can it be that one of Darren's Patricks is the one? Odd that love DJ Patrick has the right last name. A steamy but brief love scene between Darren and DJ Patrick is disastrous. However "Irish wanker" Patrick is a keeper it seems. I will not spoil the surprise, you will have to watch "Fraternity" to see which Patrick is the brother, and how it all comes together.
"Fraternity" moves along quickly. The story is engaging and the action is kept brisk by means of filming and scene change. A refreshing story with depth and humor. Not an expected slant, but one which works well and leaves the viewer wanting more from the story and characters. Christopher Clarke has a very strong scene, in a moment between Darren and his dying mother. Good performance by all and a more than entertaining dialogue make "Fraternity" a wonderful inclusion to any collection.
