"Out Of Nowhere"
Christy Claxton
Reviewed by: Len

A little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, and a little bit folk, all describe Christy Claxton's CD "Out Of Nowhere". A strong emotive voice brings great lyrics, catchy tunes, and an overall intriguing musical experience to the listener. The best part, it's ALL good! Most entertainers strive to leave their audience wanting more. Claxton is very successful in that attaining goal. An earthy style which easily translates to the experiences most of us can appreciate.

From the beginning with the opening track, "Prologue" you know you are in for something good. Of course I am just going to love a song which uses the term "Codi Pendent" LOL, this cut is also my favorite. Probably because Claxton has hit on a theme of universal understanding and feel. Upbeat, determined, and self defining, she creates for us the perfect answer. The excitement doesn't end there.

Each track unveils more excitement, more great music, and a wonderful talent. Christy's vocal control and how she uses her instrument are just wonderful. A CD for everyone, don't think for a minute this is just for the girls. This guy loves it. In playing "Out Of Nowhere" for friends the reaction was the same. Once again, it's all good just keeps coming to mind. The songs have a comforting familiarity but yet stand distinctly on their own. Claxton's ability with music and words make her art form meaty and satisfying.

All songs by Claxton with the exception of track number six, "Pick The Flowers" for which Lane Gosnay wrote the lyrics. I for one would be very interested in seeing more work by this talented lyricist as well. Combined with Christy's unique voice and style, a definite pleaser. The message is direct, and in this day and age a needed musical lift. The most difficult part of writing this review was sitting still at the keyboard. The rhythmic mood set by Claxton makes you want to be up moving around. This is a must for any and all collections. This CD gets noticed. When playing it I always hear many times, "Who is that? Where can I get it?"  The answer.......Christy's website of course.
