Andrew Violette Wing |
showcase the performer's mastery of the piano. A clear and close relationship between performer and instrument is required. Classical in nature, but closely it seems to me, related to interpretational jazz. In all cases the burden of ability is heavily on the performer. Not a work to be tackled by no less than a master. Indeed, Violette showcases his ability to master his instrument. I would love to see the work performed. If I were able to have fantasy be reality I would add to see Martha Graham perform to the music. As this does seem to be wide open for a full artistic delivery.
Haunting melodies are overborne by delicate passages which all give way to stormy phrases. Each filled with tempest and emotion. A myriad of experiences, the work compels and entices. Just when you feel you know where Violette is headed, you find yet another musical adventure begins, and a new phrase has begun. Bright fields of energetic notes dance as they are mirrored by the dark and chaotic side of nature. Easy blends and stark differences bring the work to life, as delivery is obviously in the hands of the composer. Highly recommended addition for any and all classical music lovers.
